Family Atrium Prague – Liboc

Location: Prague

Investor: Private

Project design: 2019

Build: 2020

At first glance, it looked like a space that could not be designed well. Additionally, the narrow deep atrium was supposed to become a place where a young family with small children spend a lot of time.

The wooden horizontal cladding of the main visible wall helped to optically expand this narrow space. The wall slats gradually merging into the hardwood decking together with the outdoor furniture created a cosy look. The large dinning-room window connecting the atrium to the house helped tricking the eye by creating an illusion of much larger space. The entire outdoor area is filled with green leafed bamboos and variety of perennials placed in irregular containers. Bamboo shoots are in constant motion due to their flexible trunks. Their lush green leaves brighten up the atrium even on a dark wintery afternoon. In the evening, the small spotlights illuminate the plants and along with hanging light bulbs and large lanterns, create a dreamy romantic atmosphere.

Planted wisteria at one end of the atrium already managed to climb the metal pergola. This helped to create distinctive green entrance arch to the small storage area and sauna. The designer shower is not there just to cool down after a warm sauna visit, but also offers to freshen up on a hot summer day.
